Layout of Data — Microsoft Excel
In this article, we will walk you through the fantastic journey of learning layout of data in excel and along with that we also understanding why layout is important for creating any dashboard in excel, we always know data have some columns but nature of every column is different by its data type, so that it is necessary to understand the data type first so we align our columns accordingly.
Layout of Data
- Months – Jan 22 to Dec 23 (24 Months, 2 Years).
- Stores – 5 (Store 1, Store 2, Store 3, Store 4, Store 5).
- Product – 6 (Product A, Product B, Product C, Product D, Product E, Product F).
- Sales Persons – 4 (Vaibhav, Divyanshu, Nikunj, Tanish).
- Total Sold Value – As Actual.
- Total No. of Rows - 2881( 2880 Data + 1 Header.
Convert the data in table (Ctrl + T)
As shown in the above figure, we converted data of 2881 rows into a table. Change the Table Name to Raw Data.
As we shown in the above figure, the table name was changed to raw data.

Finally, we will learning the basics of layout of data in excel while creating dashboard, it is important because every data have different data types and we arranged before making a dashboard so that it defines or convey the precise information.
